Who is eligible for Mediacom Connect-2-Compete?

Your household may qualify if you meet all of the following criteria:

  • Live in a community (or area) where Mediacom offers internet service (generally, Mediacom's network is available within city boundaries; we can check to see which addresses are located along our extensive broadband network)
  • Have at least one child who qualifies for free or reduced-price school lunch through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP)
  • Have NOT subscribed to Mediacom internet service in the past 90 days
  • Do not have an outstanding Mediacom bill or unreturned equipment.*

I subscribe to Mediacom for my cable TV service. Can I still be eligible?

You would still be eligible as long as you are in good standing and have not subscribed to Mediacom Internet service within the last 90 days. The same would apply to past customers of Mediacom.

How long can someone continue to receive reduced-price internet service through the program?

Once enrolled, Connect- 2-Compete participants will be able to continue receiving internet service for $9.95 a month (plus tax) for two years as long as at least one child in the household continues to receive free or reduced-price lunches under the National School Lunch Program and they do not:

  • Close their Mediacom account
  • Violate Mediacom's Customer Agreement for Residential Services

After the two year period has come to an end, you must re-qualify for the program under the same guidelines.

How fast is the home internet service offered as part of the Connect-2-Compete?

Mediacom Connect 2 Compete provides home internet service with download speeds of up to 25 Mbps. This is the only speed offered through the program.

What type of computer is included and what kind of software does it have?

The home computer will need to have Microsoft Office software installed. Connect-2-Compete is affiliated with a non-profit organization called Everyone On. As one of its objectives, Everyone On tries to help families purchase a low-cost laptop or a desktop computer. For information about low-cost computers or digital literacy programs, call 1-855-EVRY1ON (1-855-387-9166) or visit
